I am foodie. Without a doubt. I love cookbooks, I love food websites, and I love food channels on television. And when I find inspirations from these sources, there are few things I enjoy more than pulling together recipes from various sources, making a menu out of them, and creating a meal…. for me, for friends, for a family gathering, whatever the case. I just love the process, and most of the time, the reward that follows. The vast majority of the time, the meals are a success. We have the occasional catastrophe or flop (more than a decade later, my nephew still won’t eat mashed potatoes if he knows I made them, though I do just fine with them now!).
For all the cooking I do, and love doing, I’ve rarely come up with my own recipes. Oh it happens, but not often, and even when I do, it’s nothing I could write down if I wanted to! It’s a little of this, maybe a little of that. I promise, I’ll be more mindful of spur-of-the-moment creations, and how they come together. If they turn out well, I’ll share … wouldn’t that be a hoot – my own creation!
So what you’ll find here will be a combination of favorite recipes I’ve found and pulled together in menus, and the explanations of why I put certain foods together. You may also find recipes friends have shared with me (with their permission, of course), food ideas that inspire me, things I want to try, and my favorite meals as I find them. If you see a recipe posted here, it’s been a success for me, and approved by those I’ve fed. Some foods will be mainstream comfort foods, some will get a little more adventurous. Chances are, if you look just once, you won’t get the big picture. So get ready, keep watching for new stuff, and plan on having fun with me! Woo hoo! Here we go!
